Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office, the UAE Media Council, and BRIDGE, met with Elon Musk, CEO of X, SpaceX, Tesla, and Starlink, at Tesla’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California, on Saturday to discuss joint opportunities in advanced technology and media sectors. The meeting also included an official invitation for Musk to participate in the inaugural BRIDGE Summit, scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10, 2025. The meeting forms part of a broader UAE initiative to strengthen international partnerships that support the integration of technology and media.

BRIDGE, which describes itself as the largest debut media event globally, aims to create an international platform that brings together innovators, policymakers, and industry leaders in media, artificial intelligence, entertainment, and digital content. Al Hamed and Musk engaged in extensive discussions on the role of artificial intelligence, robotics, and data center infrastructure in shaping the global digital economy. The dialogue highlighted the increasing importance of clean energy as a foundational component for future data ecosystems. Musk noted the critical need for scalable, low-cost, and sustainable energy sources to power next-generation data centers.

Al Hamed emphasized the UAE’s capacity to deliver competitive clean energy solutions at scale, supported by long-term national investments in renewable and nuclear energy. During a tour of Tesla’s Optimus robotics lab, Al Hamed was briefed on the company’s advancements in robotics and automation. The facility is developing humanoid robots and autonomous systems designed to operate in complex environments, reflecting Tesla’s expanding footprint in artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. Musk praised the leadership under UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and highlighted the country’s early investments in artificial intelligence as a strategic strength.

The discussions addressed the importance of establishing global regulatory standards to guide the responsible development and application of artificial intelligence in content creation and digital communications. Both parties recognized the necessity for ethical frameworks that ensure public trust while enabling innovation. Al Hamed outlined the UAE’s integrated ecosystem that supports innovation in media and technology. He cited the country’s digital infrastructure, pro-innovation regulations, and growing talent base as competitive advantages. He also referenced the role of institutions such as Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in advancing national and international research capabilities.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, in establishing the UAE as a regional and global center for technological innovation. The potential for collaboration extended to several sectors, including satellite communications, youth-focused education initiatives, and green technology. Discussions included Starlink’s role in providing high-speed internet coverage in underserved regions across the Middle East and Africa, with an emphasis on enabling access to news, education, and knowledge platforms. Musk also provided updates on a new artificial intelligence center set to open by the end of the year, which he described as a milestone in the evolution of AI technologies.

Summit to examine media trust and responsible innovation

Al Hamed said the BRIDGE Summit will provide a comprehensive forum for testing and evaluating new technologies in media. He noted that the event will focus on leveraging artificial intelligence to improve content quality, enhance trust, and build a media industry that aligns with global development goals. He added that international collaboration is essential for driving progress and that the summit will serve as a central venue for cross-sector engagement. The BRIDGE Summit is expected to host over 60,000 participants, 400 speakers, and 300 exhibitors, spanning seven thematic content tracks. It will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and aims to position the UAE as a key convening point for the future of global media and content industries. – By Content Syndication Services.
